Newsletter February 2017

Dear friends, customers and supporters of MapleArt,

I hope you started the New Year well. I wish you all the best for 2017!

It's been over a year since my last newsletter, which is not exactly following my plan of providing you updates a few times per year! I have accepted a significant amount of work over the last while, and also embarked on what is easily the most ambitious wood-related project in my life, so there was not much energy left for website updates and newsletters.

My work during the last two years has covered too much interesting territory to fit into a newsletter. So I have dedicated a new page in my website to showcase recent work. I invite you to visit it. Here a small sampling of some of the new work:

Project Louisa

This project merits a more detailed description. I am harvesting and processing a 180 year old Western Maple tree from Maple Ridge, which includes a 1.9m diameter trunk and huge stump. If you are interested in this endeavour and want to see how I am converting a massive root ball into furniture, you may wish to read the entire story. This ongoing project will be the subject of more newsletters over the next few years...
